OK, so you've got a handle on basic aliases, but lets face it they're not very versatile. So, let's look at a way of making them more useful to you. To do this, we use something called a predefined variable. You don't need to worry about exactly what one of those is right now, just that it will make your aliases more versatile.

So, let's take our last example. We created an alias called intro which we used to introduce ourselves. Well, nice as it was, it isn't very personal for the person you're talking to, so why don't we make it so we can say something more personalised.

So, this is what our previous alias looked like.

What we're going to do now is make it so that when you type intro, followed by someone's name, you will introduce yourself to them.

So, open your aliases and select the intro alias by single clicking on it. You should see that above. Now we're going to use one of those fancy predefined variables I mentioned. We're going to use the %1 variable. Don't worry too much about how this works, or what that means, just trust me and you'll see for yourself. Edit your variable so it looks as below. Don't forget to click Save!

Right, now go to your text bar and type intro Undari (don't forget to include the space between the two words)

You should see the following sent to your MUD

SAY Hello Undari, my name is Xaruthan, it is a pleasure to meet you.

Nifty, huh? There are many more predefined variables, and we'll explore those along with other Variables in the next tutorial.

There's just one more thing to cover in aliases, which is pretty simple but also incredibly helpful. In the example above we're only sending on line of text to the MUD, but what if you want to add two, one after another? Simple, simple click in the value field, move to the end of the top line, hit enter, and put in whatever else you like.
Do that now and type emote bows low underneath. Like so.

Now try out your alias, type intro Undari and the mud should receive the text as below.

SAY Hello Undari, my name is Xaruthan, it is a pleasure to meet you.

emote bows low

It's that simple. Later we'll explore further into aliases but for now this should set you up to create all kinds of aliases for yourself.
